My chosen article was "Academic Envy" This article goes over the feeling of envy one gets after looking at their peers success. I chose to go with a more minimalistic approach to this design. I didn't want to take away from the authors words, however I did want the reader to understand the main theme of this article before they even started reading. My color pallet is a monochromatic green, signifying how ones gets "green with envy". Along with envy, frustration was another feeling I took away from this article. To show this feeling in my design I incorporated a crumpled paper texture to show the feeling of defeat and frustration that typically follows alongside envy.
This article focuses on the "Dark Academia" subculture. This aesthetic focuses on classic sophisticated designs that are influenced by classical literature, traditional academic attire and an appreciation for the arts. I designed this spread to match this aesthetic by utilizing a dark color scheme, and adding in visual motifs that resemble what can be seen on many classical books. My design allows the reader to get a better understanding of what this vintage aesthetic looks like while they read through the article.
